Biography

Dr. Aymen Alqazzaz is an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Mount Sinai, Icahn School of Medicine in New York City, specializing in adult hip and knee reconstruction. His clinical practice focuses on the advanced management of hip and knee arthritis, utilizing modern, minimally invasive techniques, including the direct anterior approach for total hip replacement and robotic-assisted joint replacement. He also specializes in evaluating and treating painful or failing joint implants and performing complex revision surgeries.

Dr. Alqazzaz earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, graduating magna cum laude,where he was also inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, serving as Academic Chief Resident during his final year and receiving the DeForest P. Willard, MD Award for outstanding clinical excellence. He further specialized by completing a fellowship in adult hip and knee reconstruction at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

An active researcher committed to advancing joint arthroplasty, Dr. Alqazzaz focuses his academic work on improving surgical outcomes and patient safety. His research includes optimizing dislocation risk profiles in total hip replacement, investigating outcomes following post-traumatic hip reconstruction, refining venous thromboembolism protocols in high-BMI patients, and evaluating robotic knee replacement accuracy. He has presented his work at leading national forums, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), and has authored textbook literature on revision total hip arthroplasty.

Dr. Alqazzaz serves on the AAHKS Young Arthroplasty Group Committee and was selected as a 2024 American Orthopaedic Association Emerging Leader.
